1.20 Are there any other forthcoming productions from BBV?

     BBV ?? - "SENTINEL"
          (Approx. 90 mins)
          Released: *FORTHCOMING*

An action-adventure story pitting The Cybermen against the Ice
          Warriors!

SFX #4 reported that some pre-production design work has been
carried out. The designs for the Ice Warriors and the Cybermen look
suspiciously like designs mooted for the aborted DOCTOR WHO 30th
Anniversary story, THE DARK DIMENSION. The reason for this is that
the designer on both projects is the same man.

The most recent information suggested that BILL BAGGS was trying to
get the necessary finance to make SENTINEL on film and give it a
cinema release. However, it should be noted that the most recent
information is very old now and at the moment SENTINEL seems to
be very much on the back burner.

SECTION TWO - REELTIME PICTURES

  2.1 Who are REELTIME PICTURES?

REELTIME PICTURES is a video production company that was set up by
long-time Doctor Who fan KEITH BARNFATHER during the 1980's. They have
produced a series of over thirty interview/documentary tapes consisting
mainly of one to one interviews with well-known stars of DOCTOR WHO. A
full list of these productions is available on WWW at:-

     http://orca.ucd.ie/Doctor_Who/whovids.html.

REELTIME have also branched into drama, initially with short pastiche
skits to top and tail the interview tapes and eventually into full
     scale drama productions.

2.2 What "ALTERNATIVE" WHO productions have they produced?

"WARTIME" by ANDY LANE and HELEN STIRLING
          (Approx. 30 mins)
DIRECTED and PRODUCED by KEITH BARNFATHER
          Original Release: 1987
          Re-Release: 4th July 1997

While on a seemingly routine delivery run for the rigadier, Sgt
Benton finds himself in a nightmare world where past and present
are one. Will he be lost forever or can he fight his way back to
reality where he is desperately needed!

Starring JOHN LEVENE as WARRANT OFFICER JOHN BENTON
NICHOLAS COURTNEY as THE VOICE OF THE BRIGADIER
                   MICHAEL WISHER as FATHER
                   MARY GREENHALGH as MOTHER
                   PAUL GREENHALGH as CHRIS
                   STEVEN STANLEY as JOHNNIE
                   PETER NOAD as WILLIS
                   PAUL FLANAGAN as MAN
                   NICHOLAS BRIGGS as SOLDIER

UNIT and BENTON created by DERRICK SHERWIN

REELTIME PICTURES has re-released WARTIME in a new, revamped and
cleaned up format. Here's what MARK AYRES had to say on the project:-

"...I've remastered the sound to as high a quality as it's now
possible to achieve, I was still working with the original source
material and I've not been able to remaster the script or the acting
or direction! And I've not tampered with the music score either. The
main point is that when we originally made it we were unable to do a
few technical things that were really necessary. Cost constraints
meant that it was shot and cut on low band Umatic video - a very
imprecise medium which led to the audio editing being terrible. And
it was mixed on 8-track which meant it had to be in mono. So what
I've done is to reconform the audio so that the edits now work,
remake the effects in stereo (still using my original source tapes)
and remix. I've not altered any artistic decisions we made back
then, just technical ones. Paul Vanezis has also remastered the
pictures, and you really ought to give it another look. It'll never
be perfect, but remember that it was the first of the spin-off
videos, and led, directly or indirectly, to all the others! The new
release will also include a small "making of" documentary using home
video shot at the time, new interviews of a "where are they now"
nature, and a bit on the remastering."

     "DOWNTIME" by MARC PLATT
          (Approx. 70 mins)
          DIRECTED by CHRISTOPHER BARRY
          PRODUCED by KEITH BARNFATHER
          Released: September 1995

HUMAN it is the producers intention is that she is playing the
role of ACE from DOCTOR WHO in all but name. (Complete with
          obligatory reference to "The Professor.")
The other members of the cast have also previously appeared in
DOCTOR WHO spin-off films. MILES RICHARDSON (Son of the actor
IAN RICHARDSON) appeared as CAPTAIN CAVENDISH in REELTIME
PICTURES "DOWNTIME", while TOBY ASPIN returns to the SONTARAN
costume after his appearance in "SHAKEDOWN."

by PAUL CORNELL. She is confused when she meets ACE and, understandably,
mistakes her for someone she knew. JAN CHAPPELL's likeness is used for

BERNICE SURPRISE SUMMERFIELD, a character created by PAUL CORNELL, who
first appeared in the DOCTOR WHO: THE NEW ADVENTURES novel "LOVE AND
WAR." BERNICE joined the DOCTOR on his travels through time and space
and eventually became the lead character in the series after the rights
to publish original DOCTOR WHO fiction reverted to the BBC.

Dellah - one of the most prestigious centres of learning in the
Milky Way. She wants to put the past, especially her failed
          marriage, behind her.

So she's glad when she gets the chance to take her tutorial
group to investigate the lost civilisation of Perfecton. Three
whole weeks of archaeological research in the field. The perfect
          way to forget your worries.

She doesn't bank on three things.

That Menlove Stokes, Professor of Applied Art, and various other
academics would be along for the ride. That vicious alien marauders
would decide to ecplore the planet at the same time. And that a

can only be described as - panto.

"BEYOND THE SUN" by MATTHEW JONES
          (Approx. 2 Hours)
          DIRECTED by GARY RUSSELL
          Released: September 1998

Bernice Summerfield has drawn the short straw. Instead of enjoying
the pleasures of intergalactic conferences and highbrow lecture
tours, she's been forced to take two overlooked freshers on their
very first dig. To make matters worse, her no-good ex-husband,
Jason, turns up claiming that he is in deadly danger.
Unfortunately, Benny starts to believe him only after he has
already been kidnapped from his hotel room.

Feeling guilty, she sets out to rescue him. After all, she knows
no one else is going to. Her only clue is a dusty artefact that
Jason claimed was part of an ancient and powerful weapon. But
Professor Bernice Summerfield Ph.D. knows that's obviously
nonsense. She's been an archaeologist long enough to know that
lost alien civilisations do not go around leaving their powerful
weapons lying around for any old nutter to find.

Once again Benny finds she is all that stands between Jason and
his own mistakes. She must try to prevent a terrible and somewhat
unlikely weapon from falling into the wrong hands - a weapon
rumoured to have powers beyond the sun.

          Co-stars SOPHIE ALDRED as MIRANDA
                   ANNEKE WILLS as DOCTOR KITZINGER
                   STEVE FEWELL as JASON KANE
                   LEWIS DAVIS as EMILE MARS-SMITH
                   JANE BURKE as TAMEKA
                   NICHOLAS PEGG as SCOTT
                   BARNABY EDWARDS as LEON

"BEYOND THE SUN" was recorded on 6th and 7th August, 1998 at
          the Crosstown studios in Fulham.

"WALKING TO BABYLON" Adapted by JAC RAYNER from the novel by KATE ORMAN
          (Approx. 2 Hours)
          DIRECTED by GARY RUSSELL
          Released: January 1999

Part One of the Time Ring Trilogy

"I'M SCARED OF LETTING ALL THESE PEOPLE DOWN. AT LEAST IF I GET
BLOWN UP AS WELL, THEY CAN SAY I DIED HEROICALLY. ASSUMING I
          EVER EXISTED AT ALL."

The People are a highly advanced race who, it has to be said,
one would tend to cross the road to avoid in case you
accidentally pissed them off and they obliterated you for it.
And your family. And your planet. And, indeed, most of your
timestream. Yup, they're that powerful. So, now that their
little war with another, equally powerful race, has come to an
end, the rest of the galaxy can breath a sigh of relief. Until
a couple of them decide they want the war to continue - but to
break the peace treaty they need to do something pretty damn
spectacular - like travelling back in time...and to do this,
they need to get hold of a time ring. Bernice has one. So does
          Bernice's pointless, shit-for-brains, always-needs-to-be-rescued
ex-husband, Jason Kane. Guess which one of them steals the
other's and gives them to the People? Clue: it ain't Benny.

Much to Jason's consternation, the People take him along for
the ride to the past and he realises that their claims to be
interested in archaeology might just be a little (how can we
say it?) false. A farago of lies, to be precise. And so Bernice
sets off in pursuit. But rescuing Jason won't be easy. Other
People are all for sealing off the entrance to the newly-formed
Time Path with a bomb; trouble is, the resonance will destroy
the other end of the Time Path, destroying Babylon and
irrevocably altering history. Hoping she has enough time,
Bernice ventures into the past, encountering an Edwardian time-
sensitive explorer who has also been drawn back. Together not
only must they attempt to find Jason, but also stop the People
and then get everyone back to their rightful centuries. Before
the People in the 26th century can use their bomb.

Sounds pretty simple. Except that the ancient city of Babylon
is not as safe and pleasant as Bernice might have hoped...

Part Two of the Time Ring Trilogy

"IF THE HUMAN RACE WERE TO DIE TOMORROW, INSECT LIFE WOULD
CARRY ON REGARDLESS. INSECTS MIGHT EVEN BECOME THE DOMINANT
          SPECIES!"

Thrown off the Time Path, Professor Bernice Summerfield is
trapped in early 20th Century London, with only one of the pair
of time rings she needs to get home.
At the other end of time, her ex-husband Jason Kane finds himself
stranded on a dead world, where the queen of the Charrl demands
his help to save her dying race. But all he wants to do is find
Benny, and return to the 26th Century.
In the East End a series of grisly murders has been committed -
is this the work of the legendary Springheel Jack or, as Benny
suspects, something even more sinister? Allied with a Russian
detective, she determines to find out. But the master of a grand
order of sorcerers has other plans for her...

"BIRTHRIGHT" is based on one of the books from VIRGIN PUBLISHING'S
DOCTOR WHO: THE NEW ADVENTURES series, rather than the later
BERNICE-based NEW ADVENTURES. In the original THE DOCTOR only
appears at the beginning and end of the story (in the mean time
he is off fighting Cybermen in "ICEBERG") and BERNICE's fellow
travelling companion for the adventure is ACE. For the purposes
of this adaptation, ACE's part has been rewritten for JASON KANE.
          Recorded on during December 1998.

Part Three of the Time Ring Trilogy

"TOMORROW BELONGS TO US, NOT YOU. IF YOU WERE REALLY FROM THE
FUTURE, MISS SUMMERFIELD, YOU WOULD BE A NAZI."

The Nazis occupy British soil and British citizens are being
deported to European concentration camps. Those who do not
co-operate with the Germans are shot.
This isn't a parallel universe: this is Guernsey, 1941, and
it's where Bernice is stranded. With no sign of Jason, she has
to endure the full horror of the situation, alone and afraid.
And something, somewhere has gone wrong. The Nazis are building
a secret weapon, one that will have a decisive effect on the
outcome of the war - and it's up to Benny to put history back
          on course...
