The Complete and Incomplete Dr. Who Plain Text Version

The Complete (And Incomplete) Doctor Who
If you have any suggestions or corrections to this list let me know
and I shall make the changes and repost the list.

Surviving episodes are listed following the number of the original
episodes. While all of Jon Pertwee's stories were produced in color,
some no longer exist save for black and white film copies, and are
listed as such. The Complete Doctor Who listing of all twenty-six
seasons of Doctor Who produced by the BBC, including the lost stories
and original episodes. The number of episodes per story is indicated
after the title. Some stories are no longer in the possession of the
BBC in their entirety, presumably having been destroyed by the BBC
from 1973-1978. Individual stories were aired in 23 minute episodes,
(except for one Davison story and Colin Bakers first season's shows
were 45 minutes each, and the first pilot show (which never aired).
By late 1977, none of the Hartnell-Troughton stories existed in the
BBC film library in their entirety except for An Unearthly Child. But
a dedicated group of episode hunters unearthed fifteen of the
twenty-nine Hartnell stories, and five of the twenty-one Troughton
stories by 1983. Since then, Hartnell's The Time Meddler and The War
Machines were found in Nairobi in 1984, and Troughton's Tomb of the
Cybermen was found in Hong Kong in early 1992.	These existing stories
survive due to certain factors: the episodes were overlooked by the
junkers (including most of Hartnell's first two seasons), or were
copied and sent to worldwide BBC affiliates (and by private
collectors) and later returned, or were borrowed from the BBC vaults
and later returned. Although most remarkably, audio recordings of
every episode since The Myth Makers were made by a dedicated fan --
and now remain the only remnant of these missing episodes. Many
individual episodes have been recovered, such as episodes one, two,
three and six of The Reign of Terror, Episode 2 of The Abominable
Snowmen, and episodes one, four, five and six of The Underwater
Menace.
Several missing Pertwee stories were found on black and white film,
but only two lost Pertwee stories have been recovered in their
original state; Inferno and The Daemons.
